How to Play

A 5×5 grid. Waves of coloured tiles push in from the sides. Match three or more to clear them. Don't get flooded.

Step 1

Waves incoming

Every few seconds, five new tiles push in from a random side. The coloured strips show exactly what is coming and from where. Plan around the preview.

Step 2

Match three to clear

Line up three or more of the same colour in any direction. L and T shapes count too. Bigger groups score massive bonuses.

Step 3

Do not get flooded

Fill all 25 spaces and it is game over. Keep clearing matches to hold the wave back. Late game armour groups become a lifeline.

02  ·  What You're Facing

The Threats

Three tile types. Any colour, on any turn. The higher your score, the meaner they get.

Normal
1 hit
A simple defence wave, shown as a circle. Match three of the same colour and it pops.
Armour
3 hits
Bulkier, shown as a diamond with pips. Takes three hits before it breaks. Standing armour groups keep runs alive.
Titan
9 hits
One tough cookie. A glowing square that soaks up nine hits. Titans arrive in the late game and never come alone.

Questions

What is the trick to scoring high?

Save your matches. A four or five tile match scores far more than three singletons of the same size. Watch the wave preview strips before every move and keep your board loose. Late game, a standing armoured group becomes a lifeline: it holds space while you chip it down.

How do titans and armour work?

Every hit against an armoured or titan tile deals one damage. Armour has three health, titans have nine. Group matches count as one hit per turn, so a fresh titan takes at least nine turns to break with steady same-colour matching.

Does the leaderboard track me across devices?

Yes, if you enter the same email each time you save a score. Your email is hashed in your browser before it leaves the device, so the same hash always maps to you. We never see the address itself. Only your best score is ranked.

Why is there no login or account?

By design. Casual browser games ask too much when they demand a signup before showing you a leaderboard. The hashed-email trick gives you a stable identity without the friction. Accounts will arrive later as an option, when there is something worth logging in for.

What happens when the board fills up?

The game only ends when the board is completely full AND no possible match remains on it. If a standing group of same-colour tiles is present (even armoured ones mid-crack), the game plays on because you still have an out. That grace window is a real strategic tool late game.

Is QUAD free? Any ads or purchases?

Free to play, no purchases, no in-game currency. Ads may run on the site to cover hosting, but never inside the game itself. No pay-to-win, ever.

Can I play offline or install as an app?

Not yet, both are on the roadmap. When the service worker ships, you will be able to add QUAD to your home screen and play without a connection. Follow the dev log for updates.
